Testimonials

Thanks Kim for your support and uncanny ability to put a positive spin on everything. You have natural charm, passion and commitment to share what is in your heart – that is so inspirational. It sometimes felt like you weren’t even working as my nurse, because you would give me such quality time and had such a caring nature.

Your energy and enthusiasm are truly infectious and you helped keep the smile on my face, even during the darkest moments. You have been given a rare gift in being able to connect with people and motivate even the most cynical. Thank-you!

At the tender age of 25 I was recovering from my first major operation. I had been anxious from the moment I entered the hospital and was extremely scared about my situation. One night I woke up in an almighty panic, I did not know what was happening and was so paralysed by fear I was unable to press the emergency button next to the hospital bed. Out of the darkness, Kim came strolling in to the room. She was a complete stranger to me but seemed to understand exactly what I needed in my moment of distress. Soon enough, my panic washed away and my eyelids closed until I woke up surrounded by my family the next morning.

Over the past seven years Kim has continued to be a support to me, my wife, and my family without being intrusive in any way. Due to her background in nursing Kim understands things from a medical point of view, however it is in the unpaid area of compassion in which she truly excels. On top of that, Kim is non-discriminatory, caring, has a wonderful sense of humour and is a great listener. In saying that, she is not afraid to talk!

I could not be where I am without my faith in God, and Kim, who is quietly but deeply spiritual, and was certainly an Angel sent to help me through my particular trial. I’m glad she has backed herself and is now offering her gifts to the community, not just those who find themselves in hospital.

“Good luck Kim in all that you do in life.”

I have known Kim on a professional basis for the past eleven years and know her to be a trustworthy, professional, loyal and highly competent nurse.

Throughout her career Kim has shown an immense amount of empathy and understanding to her patients and their significant others. Kim’s ability to ease a patient and their loved one’s into a sense of understanding and acceptance has made her further her education and become a qualified counsellor.

When working in healthcare your main focus is on healing and getting well. We also need to have the ability to focus on death and the ever after.  As a manager, I would look to Kim for support in helping patients and loved ones accept their diagnosis, accept their emotions and accept the path they would all travel. The bond Kim developed with those involved is unique, true to the heart and quite magical. Kim has particular expertise in oncology with a focus on patients diagnosed with brain and spinal tumours or metastatic disease.

I can give no higher recommendation to Kim than to say if I am ever faced with a terminal illness, poor outcome or devastation, I know who the first person would be for me to turn to.

I understand that Kim Armstrong is seeking accreditation as a Holistic Counsellor with your association.

I have known Kim for 10 years as a Nurse and Counsellor at Melbourne Private Hospital and I have no doubt she has the clinical, nursing and personal skills appropriate for such a role. She has vast experience in dealing with patients and their families and in particular, cancer patients with a variety of illnesses. She has a specific expertise in counselling brain tumour patients and their carers. I have always found her professional in her conduct, trustworthy, honest and open. I have relied on her counselling abilities time and time again, especially in the terminal phase of a patient’s illness.
